Stinesville Community Library serves families and children in the town of Stinesville, Indiana and the Monroe County Bean Blossom Township area. We build community by sharing a love of books, reading, and old-fashioned, small town values.
Our town has a legacy of neighbors caring for one another and strong community ties. Stinesville Community Library’s story begins with the closing of Stinesville Elementary School in 2018. For several years the books on the historic elementary school’s shelves gathered dust.
Then in 2022, local community members joined together to write grants, catalog books, paint walls, move and put together furniture, hang signs and paper bulletin boards—reviving the library within the school to make it accessible to local families once again.
The library opened in the fall of 2023 during our local Quarry Festival. We are governed by a small local board. Together we’re continuing our town legacy of cultivating a love of place, community, and good stories.
